I've had a few comments asking how to install The Sims 4 on the MacBook Air - the solution is super simple and will take seconds! I am considering buying the new MacBook Air M1 too! I have a really old MacBook pro mid2014 and really want to upgrade. Since the Sims 4 is a pretty heavy game and the new MacBook air does not have a cooler, do you think that the fact that it gets warmer will influence the insides?

So I have a bit of a problem here, or rather my girlfriend does. She upgraded her poor old laptop for the new M1 Air, her old pc was an old windows laptop. She bought Sims 4 on Steam plus a ton of the dlcs. The problem is she cannot get the game installed. She tried installing Steam with Crossove.

Diablo 3 can run on M1 Macs via Rosetta 2.

Diablo 3 is an action RPG from Blizzard. But more than that, it’s the latest entry in the genre-defining Diablo series.

Diablo practically invented loot-based games and Diablo 3 further perfected the addictive formula of hacking and slashing your way to more and better loot.

Diablo 3 on Mac Reviews

Developed by Blizzard, Diablo 3 is yet another example of a Mac port done right. Just like World of Warcraft and Hearthstone, Diablo 3 on Mac features everything the Windows version does. And includes cross-platform multiplayer and Metal support.

Bottom line: If you’re even remotely interested in action-RPGs or looter-based games, you simply owed it yourself to give Diablo 3 a shot:

Diablo 3 M1 Mac support

We tested the game on our M1 Macs and can confirm Apple Silicon Macs can perfectly run Diablo 3, even better than Intel Macs.

Last Updated: July 7, 2021:

Blizzard was quick to implement the Metal API early on, but unfortunately, they haven’t been as quick to implement native M1 support. Still, thanks to Rosetta 2, Diablo 3 runs great on M1 Macs, even the game is still coded for Intel Macs.

What is Rosetta 2? Rosetta 2 is a translation process that enables an M1 Mac with Apple silicon to use apps built for Intel-based Macs.

Diablo 3 M1 Mac benchmarks

These are the Diablo 3 M1 benchmarks we have gathered so far. Notice we had to use the in-game FPS counter to evaluate performance levels (more of that below):

As a reminder, this is how we describe the different levels of performance:

  • Below 20 FPS: Unplayable: Laggy gameplay, full of stutters and slowdowns.
  • 20-30 FPS: Borderline: Can be OK in slow-paced games. Still, not optimal.
  • 30-45 FPS: Playable: Acceptable for most (most gaming consoles do this).
  • 45-60 FPS: Smooth: Fluid gameplay, with no perceivable stutters.
  • 60+ FPS: Very Smooth: For hardcore and professional players, a luxury for most.

We usually aim for 30 FPS, because 30 FPS is enough to guarantee a smooth and fluid experience for most casual gamers.

How to view FPS in Diablo 3?

Diablo 3 is one of those games that can show you Frames Per Second (FPS) by simply pressing Control + R. This will allow you to reliably test different settings and resolutions combinations.

Tested versions:

  • MacBook Air: MacOS Big Sur version 11.1
  • OS: macOS Big Sur version 11.4
  • Diablo 3: 2.7.0 (74291)
